Polaris Therapy is a modern pediatric therapy clinic delivering expert in-home services across Silicon Valley. We combine cutting-edge reflex integration techniques with a play-based, data-driven approach.
Polaris Therapy was founded on the belief that every child deserves access to world-class therapy in the most natural setting possible: their own home. We're not a traditional clinic with sterile waiting rooms and rigid schedules.
Instead, we bring expert therapists directly to families throughout the South Bay, delivering personalized care that fits seamlessly into your child's daily life. Our therapists are trained in the latest evidence-based methodologies and use data-driven progress measurement to ensure every session counts.
We believe therapy should be fun, engaging, and empowering. By meeting children where they are, both developmentally and physically, we create the conditions for real, lasting progress.
A proven, play-based approach to addressing retained primitive reflexes that may be impacting your child's development.
Primitive reflexes are involuntary movement patterns controlled by the brain stem that emerge in utero and typically integrate by the time a child reaches about 12 months of age. When these reflexes are retained beyond their expected timeline, they can interfere with a child's motor development, learning, behavior, and daily functioning.
Common primitive reflexes include the Moro Reflex, Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (ATNR), Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex (STNR), Tonic Labyrinthine Reflex (TLR), Palmar (Grasp) Reflex, and Spinal Galant Reflex.
Reflex Integration Through Play is a fun, functionally-focused method developed by our founder, Kokeb McDonald, OTR/L. Unlike traditional approaches, RITP starts with your child's functional goals, such as improved handwriting, better social interaction, or playground confidence, and then assesses the impact retained reflexes may have on those goals.
Our therapists create and implement a measurable treatment plan using activities designed to be enjoyable and centered around every child's favorite occupation: play. Activities are easily modified for children with any level of needs, making RITP accessible and effective for all.
Reflex integration directly supports hand-eye coordination, finger isolation, wrist extension, and the foundation skills needed for writing.
Retained reflexes can cause sensory overload and difficulty maintaining attention. Integration helps children focus and engage more effectively.
Core stability, bilateral coordination, and smooth movement patterns improve as reflexes are properly integrated.
When children feel more in control of their bodies, they gain confidence in social settings, leading to stronger relationships and self-esteem.
RITP is trusted by therapists, clinics, and schools in 48 countries across 49 U.S. states. The methodology is backed by over 26 hours of AOTA-approved continuing education and has helped thousands of children worldwide reach their full potential through the power of brain-body-based play.
